In areas such as San Antonio, Bebedero, and the hillsides of San Rafael, the experience begins with the view. The mountains, valley, and city lights at night become part of the interior architecture. Here, buyers seek properties with expansive windows, terraces, privacy, and a sense of retreat without leaving the western side of San José.
Views and nature: The landscape creates a sense of openness and an atmosphere that is difficult to replicate in urban areas.
Peace and privacy: Many properties offer less noise and a more residential pace.
Climate and space: The elevation favors cooler surroundings, gardens, terraces, and layouts that open toward the landscape.
The trade-off is greater dependence on a car. Test access routes during peak hours and calculate travel times to schools, offices, shopping, and social activities. The view must fit your routine.

Near Avenida Escazú, Escazú Village, Trejos Montealegre, Plaza Tempo, and Multiplaza, the appeal shifts to high-end lifestyle convenience. Value comes from what surrounds the property: a world-class culinary scene, high-end retail, wellness centers, and corporate hubs right outside your doorstep.

This lifestyle can mean more traffic, noise, and less privacy. In addition, “walking distance” should be tested on foot: a nearby address on a map does not always mean comfortable sidewalks, crossings, lighting, or slopes.
So, Which Area Is Better?
There is no single answer. Learn more about the most exclusive neighborhoods in Escazu. The higher elevations suit those who prioritize contemplation, privacy, cooler weather, and nature.
